We do not know if those meetings held at Confcoltivatori and the synergy that gradually consolidated among these small producers were the forerunners of what would happen in the following decades in the wine world of Langa and Roero. Certainly something of those activities remained in each of the protagonists even in the following years.
“Now, after some time,” – Luciano reflects – “I like to think that it was precisely thanks to those activities developed together that we grew so much, eventually leading in 1990 to a successful associate group that we called ‘Langa In’.”
It is true that already in 1978 there had been a first sketch of an association with the group called “Small Producers of Great Piedmontese Wines,” but the true synergistic strategy materialized in 1990 with the start of the “Langa In” movement. Thanks to this partnership, many producers who had begun to walk and grow together in previous years continued their journey, involving other young people and new companies, always with the goal of building an important future for the Langa and Roero hills. And we must not forget Luciano Sandrone's contribution to the “Barolo Boys” group which, starting from that period, contributed to the renaissance of Barolo.
“Even though at a certain point in my journey,” – Luciano specifies – “I chose to leave Langa In and continue my path alone, I am convinced that belonging to this group was useful and strategic, not only for each of us but also for the global growth of the identity of the Langa and Roero wine territory. The Langa In group was the ideal stage to continue the dialogue among ourselves and to proceed with the comparison with the rest of the world. Thus, for example, we continued to promote our wines at Vinitaly using a common space that over time became the essential meeting point for journalists, operators and even just wine and good food enthusiasts from all over the world.”
Thanks to mutual collaboration, they gradually made their way and began to meet and get to know many restaurateurs, hospitality operators, people who dedicated themselves to serving wine in various areas of Italy and the world.
As we mentioned earlier, the conclusion of the Nineties decade of the twentieth century coincided with three wine vintages of spectacular value and quality: 1988, 1989 and 1990.
Whether it was his nature as a “solitary walker”, or his desire to test himself and face new challenges every day..
